Benefits of Equine Massage

Pain relief: Tense muscles hurt! Tension in one area can affect other areas of the body as well. Massage therapy helps relieve the tension in those muscles. With the release of tension comes pain relief.

Relaxation: Massage is an excellent way for your horse to relax.  Many horses show their relaxation during a massage by chewing, licking, closing their eyes, dropping their heads, and taking deep, slow breaths.

Improved flexibility: By loosening the tightened tissues that restrict proper muscle function, the horse becomes more flexible. A small amount of knotted tissue can greatly decrease mobility.

Improved circulation: With the use of pressure we can beak up tense, constricting tissue that is preventing proper blood flow and lymphatic system drainage.

Trust: Massage can help build trust between people and horses. Massage helps reinforce positive human experiences for the horse, associating touch with something pleasant.
